RE: Omniback/back-up managers

Omni back manages the tapes for you, i.e. all storage managers do. Works ok for restoring on same server, bear to move database to another server. Tapes and save sets have expire dates, database of save sets etc. It will use the whole tape to store data on. SA here prefer Legato, so look at both. Wayne E. For this and other reasons I wish to propose using HP-Omniback for UNIX and Informix backups. can anyone please provide a list of the classic benefits of using a back-up manager over manual recoding of tape cycles? thanks Neil
