Question about offline chunk

I have a dbspace with a single chunk that is marked offline. I would like to
either bring it online.... or get rid of it so I can re-use the space. When I
try to drop the chunk... it says it is not there... but when I try to create
it, it says it is already there. This chunk has been like this for a while,
and I can't remember the sequence of events that caused it to go offline. I
have checked offsets and sizes of other chunks on this storage space and
everything appears to be okay.
informix@psdb04spr:~> onspaces -c -d socket_in1 -k 0 -p /IDS/data/2_lun1 -o
50855936 -s 1048576
Space already exists.
informix@psdb04spr:~> onspaces -d socket_in1 -p /IDS/data/2_lun1 -o 50855936
WARNING: Dropping a chunk.
Do you really want to continue? (y/n)y
Chunk not dropped.
ISAM error: No such chunk
