I had an instance of IDS7.3 running, I loaded = data and it was all working fine. I was trying to set up a remote = client to connect to the database and edited the onconfig file. I also = chaged user informix from a c-shell to a korn shell account. When I = went to bring informix back online I got a message stating "cannot find = message file Check INFORMIXDIR and DBLANG" I assumed I erred in my = edits and changes so I put them back to their original settings, but I = am still getting that message. ANY IDEAS? Hello John, You seem to have a problem with any of the named environment variables. Did You set them correctly, when changing from c-shell to ksh, since ksh uses another syntax to set enviroments. So first have a look, if INFORMIXDIR is set to the path where informix-online is installed (easiest way, just do "cd $INFORMIXDIR"). If this is correct, then You should have a default directory $INFORMIXDIR/msg/en_us/0333, if DBLANG is not set, or a directory $INFORMIXDIR/msg/"locale"/"codepage". For example, if DBLANG is set to "de_ch", then locale is de_ch. Hope this helps Wolfgang John Fede <john.fede@ascom.ch> schrieb in im Newsbeitrag: 7in52a$kpk$1@news.xmission.com... > > This is a multi-part message in MIME format. > > ------=_NextPart_000_0128_01BEA930.6CF432A0 > Content-Type: text/plain; > charset="iso-8859-1" > Content-Transfer-Encoding: quoted-printable > > I have a curious problem.
