Neil Truby asked for real-world experience with IDS 10.0xC6 before moving a customer from 32-bit 10.0UC4W3 to 64-bit, wondering whether to stick with xC5 or try xC6. One reply reported a colleague hitting an onmonitor initialisation failure (errno=9, Bad file number), worked around by editing the ONCONFIG file manually and running oninit -iy/-ivy. Another poster reported no problems at all with 10.FC6 on HP/UX, including onmonitor, and noted xC6 was needed for the North American Daylight Saving Time change unless the OS-level utility could be used (IBM links supplied). No single definitive recommendation was recorded.

Does anyone have any experiences - good or bad - on IDS 10.0xC6?
We have several customers on FC5 and all seems fine so far. We have one
moving from 32-bit (10.0UC4W3) to 64-bit and I'm trying to decide if to move
them to FC5, or give FC6 a go.
All opinion gratefully received!

Hi Neil.
My colleague encounter as below.
Can not initialize via onmonitor.
Error errno=9(Bad file number)
Workaround: Edit onconfig file directory, then oninit -iy (-ivy)
BTW: I am not testing this issue.
Regards.

I have had no problems with 10.FC6, I am almost done upgrading all
servers to this release except peoplesoft of course. I had no issues
with onmonitor either. As for 64-bit I moved to it as soon as it was
available and never looked back. I'm on HP/UX. On another note you
will need this release for DST (march 11) unless you are running an OS
platforn that supoorts using the utility.
Good-luck, DBAGIRL

Ah, that's "international". I don't care! ;-)
