I : have no doubt they will be passed on to other interested parties! I : was glad we had the opportunity to discuss your points last week, : though I would have preferred to discuss the issues BEFORE you made : your feelings public. We are after all only a phone call away! I must add that I am NOT happy with the new (1993) Informix pricing policy. In 1992 I recommended an Infomrmix solution to a client. This was for a system comprising a network of 486 (Class C) machines with 20 to 25 users per machine connected to a central database server. The user machines require runtime versions of: I-SQL 4.10, ESQL/C 4.10 and I-NET 4.10. At the end of 1992 the list cost, for these 3 pieces of software, was GBP1490 (GBP=Great British Pounds). At the beginning of 1993 the list cost became GBP3160. I make that a 112% price increase!... my client was not happy. To add insult to injury, GBP450 of the new price is call "Assurance". I'm still waiting to see any improved service w.r.t bug notifications and work-arounds, maintenance releases etc... The only change in service I see is even glossier Informix marketing materials. -- Paul Mahoney, X-Act Solutions Limited smail: Owlsmead, Meads Road, Little Common, Bexhill-on-Sea, East Sussex TN39 4SY email: ptm@xact.demon.co.uk ... pmahoney@cix.compulink.co.uk phone: +44 424 846368
