Any way lots of new features will be added to the 7.1 version, which you can download a pre-beta version with cvs now to check the code (if you want!). The 8K per-tuple will be over, new optimization will be added, new backup (with logs) will be added and ofcourse vapor-ware. There is a TODO file if you would like to know more about it. And by the way, I have had really bad experience inserting stange caracters in a TEXT blob using Informix. Advise from Obnoxios: "put it in a BYTE blob type". Not the best idea I think. Where is the integrity check? On PostgreSQL I had no problem at all inserting this caracters. Locale is much more improved in PostgreSQL than it is in Informix. But I still think Informix (specially the ON-Line) wins. Still, I don't see a good future with Informix. saludos... :-) -- "And I'm happy, because you make me feel good, about me." - Melvin Udall ----------------------------------------------------------------- Mart'n Marqu's email: martin@math.unl.edu.ar Santa Fe - Argentina http://math.unl.edu.ar/~martin/ Administrador de sistemas en math.unl.edu.ar -----------------------------------------------------------------
