HELP!!! - Informix 2.1 Question

Hello everyone. Does anyone know anything about Informix 2.1? I am trying to find a solution to automatically extract data from an Informix 2.1 database running on an SCO Unix 3.2 box. The database contains thousands of graphic images that need to be extracted so they can be ported over to a new database. Are there any batch routines, commands, or software tools that would do this automatically? If there are any Informix 2.1 knowledgeable people out there that may know a solution, your help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Well, assuming you still have the machine running, dbexport should
do the trick.
What puzzles me is that 2.1 only had SE (Turbo was a possibility
with 2.10.03), but neither SE nor Turbo has support for graphic
images in the sense that OnLine has blobs (which arrived with version
4.0). So, I'm puzzled about how your images are stored. Are they
stored in big CHAR(16384) fields or something similar? Or are they
actually stored in files outside the database. If they're outside
the database, then you will need to copy them to the new machine,
along with the dbexported data.

We alos had to port a 2.1SE db to a 7.2x SE db. We also had a lot of
fields with binay data (esc-seq. for printer, reader etc. setups).
We did it in fellowing steps and until now it works:
1. be shure the reflected tables are OK (bcheck),
2. make a dbschema if the reflected tables,
3. create over that dbschema empty table(s) in the new db,
4. just copy the old ones to the neu corresponding ones (mybe names
names differ).
5. check the old-news by bcheck
If there are index(es): first make step 0: remove they on the old
one(s).
add step 6: create index(es) new.
WE DON't now any automatizmn, all self-made
Have fun and luck
