err -952 question.

We are connecting to a UIS 9.14 database on a ultra-5 solaris 2.6 box from
windows NT 4.0 using a user: ala password: ala and we are generating
err -952 in the online.log.
User "ala" has connect permission on the database, and I even granted
resource to public.
Any ideas why I am generating this error and how to get rid of it?
online.log output:
17:03:55 listener-thread: err = -952: oserr = 0: errstr = : User's passwordis
not correct for the database server.
Thanks

Typically you see -952 errors when a valid user login does not exist in the
server's /etc/passwd file, unless you are using NIS. The actual password is
not the issue here, as "dummy" login ids are sufficient.
If you are not using NIS, verify the user has a valid login id in the
/etc/passwd file on your Solaris box. The user does not need an acutal
account/password, just the login id.
