Hi Our Clients want to be able to take their work home, and then update the database the next day ... (something like that) What options are available ? As far as we know, there will only one single copy offline. Is it possible to export ifmx db to access db, work offline, and then re-sync changes with informix db. Hope you can help. Appreciate. If no one can help, are the any buzz words, I can search for ? HWR ---------------------------------------------- Visual Information Systems (heiko@vis.co.za)
Thanx Obnoxio for the reference to Cloudscape -- shall check it out. Also found an app called "PeerDirect" (commercial), which can do data replication between different databases. AND do resync after db was offline see http://www.peerdirect.com So maybe I'll be able to replicate an Informix DB to Access DB User takes Access DB home (and update data ...) User back a Office - re-syncs Access DB to Informix DB (transactions) - we loose the Access DB until we required another offline db. Have got Cloudscape web page open currently, reading ... Why don't you allow your Clients to connect to the "Office" database from home? (Haven't most of us been doing it for ages?). This could be done via the Web, ODBC, telnet, etc. Rudy "Heiko W.Risser" wrote: > Hi > > Our Clients want to be able to take their work home, and then update the > database the next day ...
