RE: 2nd try - none there who mirrors Informix data in oracle-data

Why do you want to do that. Mirror to a INFORMIX, not the O word. Anyway, it can be done. Get my copy of infspy on the www.iiug.org site. Hope you know C + UNIX sockets. This app logs all sql requests, but you will have to do some coding depending your UNIX platform. Pass the SQL queries to your O... database and hope it can keep up. You are going to have problems if the INFORMIX DB gets a error or the O.. DB gets a error. So here goes. Your APP {ANY OS} <-> INF SPY {ON UNIX BOX} <-TEE-> INFORMIX SERVER {TCP not shared mem connections} INF SPY -> SQL LOGS Some thread passing SQL LOGS to O.. DB and hope for the best. You will have to rewrite stored procs and triggers. Still a bad IDEA. Drop O and load INFORMIX on that box. Then you can truly replicate. Trust us. -----Original Message----- From: Manfred Tischendorf [mailto:tischendorf@arkusa.de] Sent: Monday, September 04, 2000 10:56 AM To: informix-list@iiug.org Subject: 2nd try - noone there who mirrors informix data in oracle-database Hello experts, what is the cheapest way (not using expensive tools) to mirror data from an informix database in an oracle database (both running on unix platforms). Because we can not involve a third computer we have no chance to use ODBC on a Windows-PC. What other possibilitiees are there. Could perl be a solution? Please help. If anyone has got a program, it would be interesting to know how I could get this. Thanks a lot Manfred Tischendorf
