Hi With SE you can just cp the .dat and .idx files from one database to another. Just create an identical table/indexes in your target database. Find the filenames from systables.dirpath and copy away. You'll need to make sure that nobody is updating the table during the copy, but that's about it. Do an update statistics afterwards, cause the new table will still think it's got 0 rows. >>> "r_hao" <r_hao@hotmail.com> 09/04/00 06:27pm >>> Hi, All; I have Informix SE 7.2 running on HP-UNIX 10.2. I used 'unload' to move a table (16 million records in it) from another database into this new database. However, 'load' is very slow. It only loads about 1 million records in 5 hours. So the question is what is the best way to move data from one database to another. TIA Randy
Yes - but make sure you point to the correct file in the new db If anybody ever ran an alter table against the old table in the old db then the file names will be out of step - so check the name in systables (a column called path or pathname).
