Rudy, I did that. I can run the script using nohup or by cron. But I cannot get it to run via the SP when the SP is invoked from the client, Kate n article <38F33EA2.9F64D9D0@americasm01.nt.com>, Rudy Fernandes <rferdy@americasm01.nt.com> wrote: > > Then, call this script from your Stored Procedure using the SYSTEM > command. > > Rudy > > Sent via Deja.com http://www.deja.com/ Before you buy.
So you can invoke SPs from the Client, but the SPs can't run the SYSTEM command? Is that it? What error do you get? Rudy Kate Juliff wrote: > Rudy, > > I did that. No. I can invoke SPs from the machine that the database resides on but not from the client IF the SP has a system command that calls an ESQL C program. I can invoke SPs from the client IF the system command is something simple like "ls > /tmp/blah.txt". But if the system command is "/bin/xyz" where xyz is a program that has embedded SQL statents, the whole thing hangs. If I put xyz in a script and have a call to the script in the system command I get one of two things happening a: If I set the environment variable in the script, the whole thing hangs. b: If I do not, then O get an error that INFORMIXSERVER is not set, Kate In article <38FB49B8.6C4F1D8C@americasm01.nt.com>, Rudy Fernandes <rferdy@americasm01.nt.com> wrote: > So you can invoke SPs from the Client, but the SPs can't run the SYSTEM > command?
