What do you know about the btclean thread ?

Hi all, I'm working with Online Dynamic Server 7.12 UC4 on HP-UX 10.10. Recently 2 of my servers stopped. They remained in online mode ! There is no long transaction und I always have some free logical log files. The server log file has since the stop no further entries. The next thing we remarked was, that the btclean thread is sleeping forever. Hmm..That doesn't sound good.. So, my question is the following: What does a btclean thread exactly do and why is it sleeping forever ? Is this a correct state of the database and how can i correct and avoid this situation ?
