Remember to a) The FIRST thing to do is open all the boxes of Informix software - put the manuals to one side. Get the small boxes out (Each one is about the size of several large books one on top of the other). Open these and each one will contain - Installation tape - Thin installation guide. - Thin white envelope THIS IS THE IMPORTANT ONE. Open each thin envelope and you will find one small paper registration card. On it near the bottom is a serial number similar to AAB#C11.. Also on each one in the small print in the middle is a phone number to call to get a license key. You quote the serial number to them and they give you a license key. Each license key is a series of uppercase letters. Note how many license keys you will need (that is the first question they ask you!). Then phone for the license keys. MAKE THIS PHONE CALL FIRST then worry about doing the installation. YOU CAN ONLY GET LICENSE KEYS BETWEEN 9am and 5pm. OK, I once phoned head office in Menlo Park at 10pm GMT on a Friday to get the keys...AND GOT THEM!! But I'n in England and they were still around in the States. b) Install the products in the order they tell you. TEN - Tools,Engine,Networking i.e. SQL/4GL SE Informix-Star if needed (only applies to prior to version 6 SE). -- David Williams
