The answers you've received from the list tell you to look for the esql file in $INFORMIXDIR/bin and the script you are running looks for esql in $INFORMIXDIR/bin..... My guess is that the install of Informix SQL either went sour or someone deleted your esql file from $INFORMIXDIR/bin. Another possibility is that $INFORMIXDIR has been changed.
