The error number is -280 and message is "A quoted string exceeds 256 bytes".
All characters of the string are alphabets;
The string length is 300 bytes .
If you are doing this within dbaccess try using the load command
load from "/path/to/filewithverylongstring.txt"
insert into test;
The filewithverylongstring.txt file should look like this:
123456789012345678901234567890.........12345678901234567890|
with a return character following the | delimiter.
