ok, my table definition was a example! But, i need only extract the code error and message error of Informix. Example: -899 Too many violations. -898 Cannot alter a table which has associated violations/diagnostics tables. -897 Cannot modify/drop a violations/diagnostics table. -896 Violations table is not started for the target table. -895 Cannot create violations/diagnostics table. ..... Where can i get them ? Not using finderror, not by esql/c, for nothing utility of informix. Informix Co, has this errors ??? i'am clear? Do you understand me? Thank you!!! I'm not sure whether I understand you. I'm not sure whether you
understand me, either.
However, I can think of two options.
One is listiem which decompiles error message files.
The other is chkmsg, which is built on top of rgetlmsg().
Both are in the IIUG software archives.
For example:
$ chkmsg -899:-895
-899: Too many violations.
-898: Cannot alter a table which has associated violations/diagnostics
tables.
-897: Cannot modify/drop a violations/diagnostics table.
-896: Violations table is not started for the target table.
-895: Cannot create violations/diagnostics table.
$ listiem -l $INFORMIXDIR/msg/en_us/0333/sql.iem | grep [-]89[5-9]:
-899: Too many violations.\\n
-898: Cannot alter a table which has associated violations/diagnostics
tables.\\n
-897: Cannot modify/drop a violations/diagnostics table.\\n
-896: Violations table is not started for the target table.\\n
-895: Cannot create violations/diagnostics table.\\n
$
listiem does not need ESQL/C; chkmsg does. Both need a C compiler, of
course.

Do you understand me? Well, you could use finderr actually. Or you could get them from the text file in the $INFORMIXDIR directory (or one of its subdirectories, I'm not in front of the right kind of machine just now), format it up with vi or sed and load it into the database. We did that so that Java programs could show the same old messages that people were used to getting from our 4GL programs which spew up the ISAM codes and everything when they crash. If you're unfortunate enough to be using windows, then you have a bit more work to do perhaps. You can get all the numbers and text from the Informix error messages manual at www.informix.com/answers or your answers online CD - looks in answera\\answers\\pubs\\pdf\\7898D.pdf (that's what it is on my version anyway). A little bit of cut and paste and tinkering with Access or Excel or whatever it is, and you should be able to slap those into your db. -- Andrew Pearson: "exactly what the web needs less of".
look at finderr, it is a script and tells you the location of the message files. -- --------------------------------------------------------- Steven Hauser email: hause011@tc.umn.edu URL: http://www.tc.umn.edu/~hause011 ---------------------------------------------------------
