RE: Pulling data out of informix tables

I am a UNIX cripple and basically can list files and view text files with a text editor. Is there command line access to the informix engine which allows SQL manipulation of data files. What format are result sets put into and how can you make them so that they are accessible from the UNIX command line (i.e.. files).
