Lock table overflow
Posted in 1999
Hi all,
I'm running Informix Universal Server (9.12.UC2) on a SUN sparc 5 with
Solaris 2.5.1
I have a database with buffered logging. In the database is a table with
one
primary key (comprising three columns) and one foreign key (comprising
one
column) and row level locking and containing approximately 500 rows. The
LOCKS parameter in my "onconfig" file is set at 8000.
When I try to delete all the rows in the table with
BEGIN WORK;
DELETE FROM my_table;
I get the "no more locks" error.
According to the "Performance Guide" and my calculations, the above
statement
should generate only 2000 locks.
Can someone give me some details on how to calculate the number of locks
generated by the above statement?
Thanks in advance,
Avi.
