Hi
1) Is it possible to use onbar as a backup/restore solution for Informix
Server instances that back up logical logs to /dev/null?
I was under the impression that it is mandatory to save logical logs if
onbar is to be used because logical recovery cannot be skipped with onbar.
On the contrary, Informix techies tell me that if LTAPEDEV is set to
/dev/null, onbar will ignore logical log backup/restore. Is this true??
2) Anybody out there running both Informix IDS2000 (64 bit) and IDS.7.30.FC7
on same Unix server? I want to know if there are any issues with installing
and running both these versions on the same server. We have HP-UX 11 on a V
Class Server.
Thanks,
Shehla

Not completely true: If you set LTAPEDEV to /dev/null and reboot
Informix
instance, all logical logs will marked "backed up", immediately after
completing the logical log.
But an alarm is always triggerd. So, you have to set
ONCONFIG.ALARMPROGRAM
to "$INFORMIXDIR/etc/nolog.sh". Otherwise, onbar will be started and
it will
return with an error code.

Not me, but I have heard about problems with /usr/lib. Some releases
of an
7.30 installed their libs to /usr/lib instead of /usr/lib/..64...
If you have such a version you will get problems with your processes.
