Does anyone know of a commercially available library of functions for network communications using sockets which can be linked to/called from Informix-4GL? TIA, Irwin Goldstein Objective Software Systems, Inc. http://www.objectsoft.com Sent via Deja.com http://www.deja.com/ Before you buy.

You can call any functions from any library with in the 4gl. All you have to know is the function name, what type of variables it accepts and what it return, you should make sure you send the correct types and you have variable of correct types to receive the returned values. The syntax is: CALL WhatEverFuntion(parameter_list) RETURNING variable_list You should make sure the library containing the WhatEverFuntion is in the link chain of your make file. -- Compliments of QueriX -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- QueriX 4GL Compilers are Informix 4GL Compatible, and Connection to other RDBMS such as Oracle. That seems like a good starting point but it looks like I would probably still need to do some C coding to round things out to include all of the functionality I need. Maybe I'll end up going that route if I don't find something more complete.
