Question re Backing Logical Logs
Posted in 1997
Barry,
Use a file name, not a directory name as your tapedev.
e.g: TAPEDEV /usr/informix/archive/database
where database is an empty file with proper informix ownership and
permissions.
One caveat: make sure that your archives are going to a file system that has
no database chunks anywhere on that disk.

I would like to back up my logical logs to disk rather than tape.
I've changed my device through onmonitor to a directory. I get a
message that says ontape cannot write to tape device. I know this can
be done. What is the trick to it?
