It took us about two months just to get the agent not to crash when it started. >1. we don't find a possibility for continuous backup logical logs we had major problems with this. we couldn't separate our logs from our data backups (which considering we are using a jukebox between several servers, is a *real* pain). >2. it's not possible to use backup with rotation scheme ( simple >and gfs) > >we tried to get information from cai/arcserve-techsupport, and >from arcserve-openforum. but nothing happened. arcserve techsupport (IMHO) is about as useful as a chocolate teapot. >does anyone has experiences with informix and arcserve ? >please help. >thanks in advance >lindenthal > My advice, having been there, would be not to use the agent. What we have done is to put a dedicated 18Gb disk in each informix server, and then do the backup to disk. We then do an automated backup from that disk to tape a short while later. This seems to work fine! HTH Andy P.S. The arcserve agent replaces an informix dll without telling you (I forget which one). If you uninstall the agent, it doesn't replace the original file, so that informix/onbar backups will no longer work until you manually replace the file.
