Failed inserting new row with Merant ODBC driver...

I use a Merant ODBC driver and Microsoft OLEDB provider for ODBC drivers to connect to a remote Informix database. I can connect to the database without problem. When I try to insert a new row using the SQL command in my OLEDB consumer code, I get the following error: [MERANT][ODBC Informix drivert][Informix]Illegal attempt to use Text/Byte host variable. Does anyone know what does this error mean and how I can avoid it? Thanks, -dp Sent via Deja.com http://www.deja.com/ Before you buy.
I ran into the exact same error today, using Cold Fusion ODBC interface to a remote Informix Database. As far as I can tell (and I may be wrong), there is a max length in the sql statement you can send through the driver. I was sending 6 1000 CHAR length variables through an UPDATE statement, and I was only getting the error after the text I sent grew past a certain length. I solved the problem by splitting up the query into 6 subqueries (probably an overkill) and everything works. I would be interested to see what the actual documentation of the problem is, but for now I hope that helps.
