The reason is support. If there is a problem, the are fewer vendors to point the finger at. So if New Era has a problem, there is only the Informix database, the Informix development product, and the Informix SetNet utility, all are one vendors products. Informix can't point at PowerSoft and say it is a problem with that or point at a ODBC driver and say we don't support that, and so on. It is entirely one vendor's baby. We have had that problem using Powerbuilder(good tool) and Informix. We can pin the support people done and say your product's the cause, fix it. I can't say this provides the most powerful developement environment, but it is a more supportable one. ===================================================================== Paul Watje Database Something or Another watjep@hasting.com Hastings Books, Music, & Video
