Good backup

I am pretty new to Informix and want to double check what my software vendor
is telling me regarding backups.
If I perform a ontape -s and select 0 and write this to tape, with the
binaries and the $ONCONFIG file is this a FULL backup for all of informix on
my system.
TIA!
Hi Tony,
Almost perfect, but also don't forget the sqlhosts file. If you have all that
than restoring is a piece of cake. But never trust a vendor, if you have still
the possibility then TEST IT !!!

This will be a full backup of the entire Informix instance identified by
$INFORMIXSERVER. If you have more than one instance you will have to run
a separate ontape for each.

let me add to what others have posted that we keep for desaster
recovery alongside
the tapes created by ontape:
the file $INFORMIXSERVER/etc/$ONCONFIG of every Informix Instance we
run
the output of onstat -d (you can find in the IIUG archive a nice
utility to
create the onspaces statements needed to recreate dbspaces & chunks)
a listing of
$INFORMIXDIR/etc/chunklinks:
this is a no-default directory and holds the symbolic links to the
chunks.
You should always only have symbolic links to appear in your onstat
-d
