System A (where Informix instance resides)
System B (where tape drive resides)
1. Establish 2-way .rhosts connectivity for user=informix
from each system to the other. Test by running:
"remsh systemb ll (from system A). It is working if
it does not ask for a pw.
2. Set TAPEDEV on system A to: systemb:/dev/rmt/0m (or
whatever).
3. ontape -s
4. It will ask to mount the tape on systemb.
You will see that it runs "dd" | remsh or something like
that. If it fails and you want to rerun, you'll have to
manually "mt -t tapedev rew" on systemb.
