Welcome, J Have a following problem with informix database server
Online 5.11 (linux native) + CSDK2.80 on linux box :
J'm developing my app in C language , and when j'm trying to connect
within my application to database server this look virtually ok. My
application say:
"Connection succesfull" , bat when trying execute any sql statement
within my application, like this: select count(*) from my_table then
j'm received an error message:
-404 the cursor or statement is not availabale
my entry in $INFORMIXDIR/etc/sqlhosts:
demo_on onipcstr localhost sqlturboand INFORMIXSERVER=demo_on
anybody have any idea..? What is wrong ? Maybe CSDK2.80 does not match
database server ... Please help me ...
thanks in advance
( Sorry english is not my native language..)
Sounds like the something failed somewhere, but you didn't test to see
if it failed. Possibly you don't have permission to read data on a
table, your app didn;ttest the status of the "prepare" and "declare"
statements hence the curser wasn't available when you tried to do the
fetch.
dbaccess suffers the same problem!
revoke select priviledges on your table and then try and unload the
data from the table and you;ll see dbaccess gives you the same error
mesage.

Which C language API are you using? ESQL/C, or ODBC?

Have you checked that onipcstr is the correct connection type to use?
I would expect to use seipcpip, onipcpip (if it exists) or a network
connection (onsoctcp) - which would require you to run the 5.11
sqlexecd too.

I believe CSDK 2.80 is supposed to connect to v5.x servers, but I
don't have a copy at home with which to experiment.

That's not a problem - your explanation is clear enough.

J'm using ESQL/C which was included in CSDK2.80 ( ESQL/C ver. 9.53 )

J'm using my database server and client app on the same machine (not
over network ). When i'm trying to connect to databse server with
other type than onipcstr then i'm obtain error message:
-25591 Transport control received an invalid connection address.
When change to onipcstr then connect virtually ok. ,but -404 error
appear while execute ANY sql statement ...
