Extending SBLOBSpace

I think I may have created my (development) Informix database server with too
small a SBLOBSpace, so I am trying to extend it. (My current file sbspace.000
is only 1024K in size)
Using the command
C:\\\\Program Files\\\\IBM\\\\Informix\\\\11.70> onspaces -a sbspace -p C:\\\\IFMXDATA\\\\ol_mat
-o 1024 -s 500000
gives the response:
Verifying physical disk space, please wait ...
Smart Large Objects: sbspace exists but is currently down
I have three questions:
1. How do I confirm the SBLOBSpace file path?
2. What is the meaning of the offfset? Is this the existing file size, or can
I make it zero?
2. How should I respond to the above message?
TIA
Neil.
Depends on what you used for the original sblob space. Essentially you =
are trying to add a chunk to an existing dbspace.
If you use the same file as the original sbspace, then you need to =
offset it into the file the size of that original sbspace. If you are =
using a new file, then the offset can be 0.
Sounds like you just added the chunk overlapping your original chunk - =
which would not be a good thing.
If your original chunk was 102400, then your offset should be 102400.
You can check with onstat -d what that size is (or rather was), just =
remember to multiply it by your pagesize.

Yup, that's exactly what I did. I've created a new database instance now, but I'll remember that for the future. Fortunately I had already scripted the entire set of tables, indexes, pks etc, so it was not too much of a hassle for recreate a new server instance. Thanks for the information. Neil.
