I am running Informix SE (V7.20) on two SCO Open Server systems. I have a database set up on the server computer and am accessing it from the client. I am able to access the DB using any user account EXCEPT root. n When I try access via root, I get a the following (from my DB Server logs): daemon err = -956: Client host or user (root@clientcomp) is not trusted by the server I'm using /etc/hosts.equiv on the server to allow access from anyone on the client computer. As I stated, this is working as planned for all users except root. Can anyone shed some light for me?? - Don - chewy107@hotmail.com
Check the usage of hosts.equiv on your UNIX release. Some flavors of UNIX do not have root use this file, you must have a .rhosts for root to be "trusted".
