OK, Back to square one...please don't think I'm too dense (I AM an SA, not a DBA, but just trying to get things done the best way I can...) Having inherited this system/job with little or no training, assume I'm starting from the ground up. I do not know for a fact which version of informix I've even got running here. With no documentation (and bandwidth on the government side at a crawl, or I'd be on informix's website), where can I positively ID what db software I'm running on this platform? If you're a Unix site then try cat $INFORMIXDIR/etc/*-cr this should list all informix products installed with their version numbers.
