Anyone compiled UniVerse uvsh GCI with gcc?

Hi, I'm trying to recompile uvsh. Before making changes to the uv/gcidir/Make.gci file, I'm simply trying to get it to compile uvsh with no changes except for "CC = gcc". I've searched the gci.c source file plus all it's include files but can't find "#assert" anywhere! Any idea what this error refers to? -------- wiluna /opt/uv/gcidir # make gcc -Iinclude -DNETwork=2 -DRAID -DNDEBUG -Ae -DHPUX11 -c gci.c *Initialization*:1: missing token-sequence in `#assert' *** Error exit code 1 Stop. ---------------- Any help much appreciated! Cheers Alistair.

In a variety of conversations with Ardent/Informix, we have found that a variety of machine/OS specific enhanced capabilities are in use. Keep in mind here that you are potentially impacting the entire UV environment with a change like this. As a very minimum, I would contact Informix and find out what their position is on this. It sure would not shock me if they respond with something along the lines that they would not support you in this situation.
