How to know the Informix Version running

Before you buy.
You can use oninit -V
That should tell you the version number.

Try the following query against the sysmaster DB: select DBINFO('version','full') from systables where tabid = 1 We have a dual table in our database for constant queries like this, so we could also use: select DBINFO('version','full') from dual Hope this helps. Try the following query agains sysmaster:
select DBINFO('version','full')
from systables where tabid = 1
or:
We have a 'dual' table for constat queries like this.
create table dual (dummy char(1)); {run this in your production env}
Then you can run w/out switching connections:
select DBINFO('version','full')
from dual
