The C-ISAM datablade server storage component consists of two parts, one is a client library which the program's actually link to. This library has got the wrappers for all the C-ISAM calls. Inside the wrappers calls are made to the second part (which is the Server Storage blade and resides in the server). The functions in the blade call the equivalent "rsam" calls to actually handle the data. Example of a function. isread() -> Called by the user's program, Links to the client library. The client library in turn calls cdb_read() using the SQL command "execute function cdb_read(.....)" cdb_read is the function in the blade which calls the RSAM call "rsread". The same is for most of the functions. Only certain functions which handle indexes make SQL calls directly. Let me know if you need any more info. Thanks, Gopal.
Thank you very much for your precise answer on the working of server-storage. If more information is needed when working hands-on with the product, I will post a new entry. Bernard Dhooghe Sent via Deja.com http://www.deja.com/ Before you buy.
