How to monitor tablespace growth

Hello everybody, To face this problem Im thinking of creating a sensor that would insert a row into a table every time a new extent is added to a table. Is it possible? How can I do it? Shouldn't this be possible, what would be the best approach to the problem? Any help would be very much appreciated. Regards, Juan
It's not possible. And I doubt you'd want to deal with it in a medium to large system... Usually we have two tasks... One to check each dbspace usage with thresholds that alert you (yellow and red)... and another task that verifies the number os extents in each table and also warns you if any goes above specified thresholds... What you could do in the general case, is to keep your own table of chunks, or at least a count, then have a task manager task wake and check the number of chunks against that list or count and add a row for any new chunks that have shown up since the last check. If you mean to know when the dbspace expander task has allocated a new chunk automatically from the storage pool, then just modify that task to keep a record of the event for you. Art Art S.
