What happen Informix? :-( 1. There are no Y2K problems with Informix 4GL appart from those you created yourself by using only 2 digts for years in input fields. Even these are solved by Informix in ver. 4.20 and 7.20 of 4GL via the DBCENTURY environement variable. I would assume this company have done something similar. 2. I am talking to this company about using their tools which convert Informix 4GL to Java. Although they have some kind of assosiation with Oracle it seems their tools can also be used for the same purpose, but retaining the Informix database engine. 3. Your statement includes "without problem". Do you mean to say that a beta version of a tool is without problems? A little optimistic perhaps. 4. Is Informix 4GL obsolete? That's a question of your requirements. For many purposes it's far from obsolete. Still converting to Java is very interesting. 5. I will report back as soon as I have gotten more information about this tool. I will test it, talk to Informix about it and see what can be done. All in all an interesting development that if handled well may benefit Informix more than anyone else.
