Importing Data

Hi, I am new to the Informix arena and running Informix On-Line 7.3 UC5. I have a couple of questions. 1. Is it possible to import a schema's data only and then running a sql script after to create the indexes. In Oracle you specify not to create the indexes and then run a sql script that the imp utility creates for you create all the indexes which makes a significant improvement during import. Is this possible with Informix. 2. Looking through the faq's I see that there is a utilities called tbcheck -ce ( reports on tables having more than 8 extents ) tbcheck -pT <dbname>:<owner>.<tabname> to get Tablespace usage (Version 4.10.UE1). Is there an equivalent for 7.3 UC5?? Thanks for your help. Marcus Wilkinson ________________________________ The information contained in this electronic mail message is confidential. Yes it is possible, but you have to do it yourself. Use dbschema, or
my utility myschema, to produce a schema then make a copy of the file,
edit one commenting out indexes and the other commenting out create
and grant statements. Run the former before your load and the latter
after your load. I am working on an enhancement to myschema.ec to
produce the two files directly, perhaps in the next release. Take note
that you MAY want to leave primary key indexes turned on during data
loads to prevent garbage entering the data. Alternatively you could
add START VIOLATIONS statements to the index script so that any garbage
that does get in is removed as the constraints and indexes are created.

Yes all of the tb* utilities exist for 7.xx they were just renamed on*.
Thus tbcheck became oncheck and tbspaces became onspaces, etc.
