HP-UX 10.20, IDS7.31 and KAIO problem

I decided to add KAIO to a long working K400 on HP-UX 10.20. The IDS is utilizing KAIO, but now my runque (uptime load average) ranges from 35 to 62 all day with users on the system. I have never seen an uptime load average of 62 till now. All other performance metrics from sar show a machine being used but not thrashed like the load average indicates. We are not swapping, there is 250MB free memory, the CPU's run 15-20% idle, the Autoraids run 50-70% busy during peak 30-40% otherwise the dbspaces and chunks are accross 2 Autoraids. Has anyone seen this type of behavior with KAIO any IDS on HP-UX 10.20? The system seems just fine otherwise. I have a support call into Informix since last week and no answer. I have had HP on the box saying talk to the Informix folks. Now I'm asking the world.
Wow...thats a busy machine. You didn't mention the IDS version. I have IDS 7.31.UC2 on a K260 w/ HP-UX 10.20. The only thing I have ever noticed about KAIO is that things are faster when its enabled.....I've never had a problem. KAIO is only useful for raw devices....not cooked. Are your database chunks raw? I've got 30 gigs on an HP Model 20 Nike Array w/ all raw chunks via LVM. My uptimes are never above 5. There are several flavors of KAIO. Take a peek into your online.log and look for the last time you bounced the instance. Mine says: 13:05:07 HPUX Version B.10.20 -> Using flag/select style KAIO KAIO uses /dev/async. Was this built properly? Check your release notes. The type of KAIO you are using would probably help in determining the problem. HTH Allen "Phillippe J.
