My data needs more disk space

Hi all,
to transport a database from Informix-Online 7.20 to IDS2000 9.20, I used
dbexport and dbimport.
In informix-Online 7.20 my data were stored in 5393723 Pages.
In IDS2000 the import of the data cancelled with the isam error 131: no free
disk space and really, there were no free pages in any chunk.
The sum of the the pages in use was 8809688, d.h. not all of the data needs
60% disk space more.
Who can explain me this and can I influence the demand of disk space.

Version 9.x creates all indexes as detached hence each index entry
takes up an additional 4 bytes for the frag-id

In version 7.X and earlier, indexs pages were created in the same extent as
data pages. That has changed in version 9. Indexes are now "detached" and
placed into a seperate extent automatically.
What is most likely happening is your dbimport schema file has a extent size
that is sized for both data and index pages -- this works great for version
7 -- however, in version 9 -- these sizes are too large. A majority of the
space that was once used for indexes is being allocated to the data page
extent, and is no longer being filled by index pages. Additional extents
are automatically sized and created for the index pages by Informix and that
is why your disk space consumption is so high --
Before you start your engine, set the following variable:
DEFAULT_ATTACH=1
Then retry the dbimport --- this variable should cause the version 9 engine
to behave the way a version 7 engine would.
Good Luck!
