Invalid free space report in IDS 7.31.FD8 on Solaris 9
Posted in 2006

To me it seems it's something wrong with reports regarding free space
in dbspaces. Or, in the worse case, could be something wrong with our
database. The OS is Solaris 9 (SPARC) and IDS version is 7.31.FD8.

larger than the size of the chunk!

For auxdbs, there seems to be more free pages than there are total
pages!
I have indications that the reporting on free pages is not invalid only
on auxdbs dbspace. Yesterday the IDS were not able to insert new rows
into table in storagedbs, in spite of the fact that it was reported
that there were about 1600000 free pages in that dbspace. The problem
was resolved by adding additional chunk to that dbspace.
When running some oncheck commands, the most suspicious parts of what I
got were:
===================================================================
WARNING:No syssyntable records found.

WARNING:No sysviews records found.
....
WARNING:No sysdepend records found.
===================================================================
Should I be worried? What do you suggest me to do?
TIA,
Darko Krstic
Did you run oncheck -ce ?
Something does appear wrong in the counters. You may also want to bounce
Informix. If nothing comes from these log a call with Tech Support.
