Jörg Seider asked whether it was safe to upgrade from IDS 7.23UC4 on Reliant UNIX to 7.31UC2-1. Art S. Kagel said it was far more stable than any 7.23 and rock solid, but advised a full update statistics run and rebuilding all indexes because of the new buffer priority code. Yang, Heung-Soon asked about constraints; Art said to recreate primary, foreign and unique ones.

My platform:
RM300/C60 (Mips R4400 cpu, 200MHz)
Reliant UNIX v5.43C40
Informix Dynamic Server 7.23UC4
It's safe to upgrade to IDS 7.31UC2-1 ? (stable enough ???)

Far more stable than any of the 7.23 versions were! Yes 7.31UC2 seems
to be rock solid to me. You will have to run through a complete update
statistics suite after the upgrade and should probably rebuild all of
your indexes to avoid a problem with the new buffer priority code which
depends on index page type flags that 7.2x was not diligent about
maintaining since it did not use them for anything.

Hi,
I wonder about rebuilding index.
Should I recreate create primary constraints ?
Thanks in Advance

Yes, any constraints that create/use indexes (ie primary, foreign,
unique).
