Ontape backup failed in new instance

Hi all i am using informix 7.31 FD10. i have two instance in the server. i have created new instance in the server.i can take log backup with ontape -a command in new instance,but whenever i try to tabke Level 0 backup (ontape -s -L 0) in newly created instance it shows following server. Archive failed - function open archive backup failed code -1 errno 0 i can take level 0 back up in old instance. pls reply

Hi, What is your setting for TAPEDEV in onconfig ? Is this device existing ? What is the LTAPEDEV set to (which is working) ? Maybe the tapesize or blocksize is not supported (but I think you should get a different error code in this case) ? Is there anything written in online.log of this instance ?
