Translating with DrWatson… this can take a few seconds the first time.
This is a genuine, complex translation. DrWatson protects commands, error codes, and log output while naturally translating the surrounding text. It’s translated once and saved.

Could some one explain the output of onstat -D and compare it with
the output of onstat -g iof?
On my online 7.23 running on AIX 4.2 I get the following for
onstat -D:address chk/dbs offset page Rd page Wr pathname
....
400382c8 2 2 1 40261 30340 /dev/RDATA00DB
4003839c 3 3 1 149783 153244 /dev/RDBTEMP
40038618 6 6 1 178835 39579 /dev/RDATA01DB
400386ec 7 7 1 565794 9934 /dev/RDATA02DB
....
and the following for onstat -g iof
AIO global files:
gfd pathname totalops dskread dskwrite io/s
....
4 /dev/RDATA00DB 478833 451086 27747 0.7
5 /dev/RDBTEMP 43791 21032 22759 0.1
8 /dev/RDATA01DB 504761 466093 38668 0.7
9 /dev/RDATA02DB 270739 262590 8149 0.4
....
As you can see, the number of disk operations
reported by onstat -g iof do not follow the same pattern
as the number of page read/write reported by onstat -D.
If I were to trust onstat -D I would conclude that:
DBTEMP and DATA02 are the most heavily used chunks.
If I were to trust onstat -g iof I would conclude that
DATA00 and DATA01 are the most heavily used chunks.
Because of table locations I am almost sure that DATA01
is the most heavily used chunk. I am looking for a trustable
tool to evaluate the effect of moving tables between DBspaces.
Thanks in advance
Tino
