Does anyone have a rather current comparison/evaluation checklist of the various large scale databases (Oracle, Informix, UDB) that they wouldn't mind sharing??? Any other relevant info to make a business decision on is greatly appreciated..... Please forward to email account listed. Thanks in advance
Experience shows that this thread will develop into a big fight of biased people who will loose soon track of the original question... Why don't you ask some unbiased consultants and contact the salesreps of the companies in question? Then you build your opinion based on that (keeping in mind that salesreps are salesreps of course), rather than which members in which newsgroups have the most time to sell their religion. When you do this you should be prepared to tell the experts what kind of application you need, in which language you intend to implement, how many concurrent users you will have, how critical 24x7 is for you and what growth you expect over time. You choice for BI could be entirely different than for e.g. web-management or OO-Applications. Cheers Serge (Purposely trying not to say anything biased - for now...)
I am looking for hands-on comparitive information....opinions are nice and are valid, but don't carry any weight when business decisions need to be made...
