This has not been a concern for us, since we opened a new window for the viewing to take place in, anyway. (However, we were working with files, not blobs.) less will take its input from the pipe, so you don't really need to put the blob into the file system. Now the problem is: does software exist to put the blob into the pipe? Sounds like you want a product, in the form of a linkable library of subroutines/functions, to put into your application to manipulate your blob(s). A linkable library would avoid the new shell problem, and might include its own viewer, making less/more/pg unnecessary. My impression is that a program, rather than a linkable library, will always need its own shell. Regards, Alan +------------------------------+---------------------------------------+ | R.
