Hi: First-time poster, but long-time observer of Informix. Just wondering what the Informix faithful think of this: http://biz.yahoo.com/bw/991201/ca_informi_1.html I invite you to follow the discussion from the other side of the fence in the comp.databases.pick newsgroup. Hi Jon, This was the data base company that was, Informix. Let's see, we have no marketing, we're barely out of the woods on a big lawsuit that almost shut us down, let's go buy another company, and create more overhead for ourselves. Let's do that instead of spending the money more wisely on MARKETING what we already have, and leveraging our partnerships that are already in place. ( Ardent was already a partner ) Of course I'm just a rant, but really, who in their right mind would be thinking this is a good deal? It will take a lot of selling to convince people why it makes sense. There were other marketing approaches that could have been used to sell what is already in the house rather than increasing the burden not only on Informix, but those of us out in the field that are expected to understand what these new products are and how they apply. Nobody I've talked to thinks this is a good deal, rather it is probably the second coming of Universal Server.
