What version is the local server? The remote server? Platforms (remote & local)? What was the SQL error returned (code and message)? What was the ISAM error returned (code and message)? What do the sqlhosts files on each machine look like? Does the user have a valid login on the remote machine? Does the user have connect permissions on the remote database and select permission on the remote table? Are the logging modes of the two databases compatible? Does the local server support the datatypes returned by the remote server (ex if local is SE and remote is IDS and the table includes variable length fields)? Are you connecting directly to the remote engine or going through the local engine? There is more I could ask but you get the idea, it could be lots of things. With more detail maybe someone will recognise the problem right away. As it stands we'd be guessing. Art S. Kagel
