Translating with DrWatson… this can take a few seconds the first time.
This is a genuine, complex translation. DrWatson protects commands, error codes, and log output while naturally translating the surrounding text. It’s translated once and saved.
Joao Campos got the error 'Logical Log Files are Full -- Backup is Needed' and asked for help. Yang Heung-Soon and Leo Cardoso advised freeing the logs with ontape -a. Andreas Bettin added that LTAPEDEV can be /dev/null on Unix if restore safety does not matter, but logs then cannot be restored. Alex Yukhno suggested ondatartr, a level 0 backup, and LBU_PRESERVE = 1 in ONCONFIG. No confirmation of the outcome.

You can free your logical logs by "ontape -a".

First save with ontape -a on your tape device.
If restore-safety is not your problem, you can use /dev/null as
LTAPEDEV. (when your box is unix)
I think, NUL ist the null-device in Win9x and NT, but look in the FM
of online.
Beware! Restore of Logs will not be able, if you choose the
null-device to backup the logs!!!

You may use utility such ondatartr with command same onarchive (but
without user interface). After it you must act backup level 0.
My advice set LBU_PRESERVE = 1 in your ONCONFIG, and you will have
not same problems in the future.
With best regards Alexander Y.
