It need not have a valid password if remote host is trusted (ie for UNIX systems the host has an entry in /etc/hosts.equiv or in the user's .rhosts file). And if a password is desirable to permit logins from multiple or unknown hosts, then the user's shell can be force a logout so that ONLY database access is permitted on the server. Art S. Kagel
