Re: problem with ODBC ACCESS--> INFORMIX

It is best to post Informix related questions to comp.datbases.informix where there are many more Informix denizens, and I have taken the liberty of cross-posting this reply, but here is what I have for you. I assume this is Informix Standard Engine from the existence of the DBPATH environment variable. Do you have the listener, sqlexecd, running on the server? This has to be run as root as: sqlexecd servicename -l logfile The servicename is optional, IMS, if there is only one connection defined for the server in the sqlhosts file there. Next, I do not see user and passwd entries in your odbc.ini file. Did you use a username and password in the ODBC connect statement? If not the client has to be a trusted host and the either way the user needs to have a valid account on the server. If you are using the username/password model instead of the trusted client model the user's account must be login-able with the specified password, otherwise not. Art S.
